New Neighbors

Unless I decide to head out across a corn field, I must walk past my neighbor's house to leave mine.  They are nearly a quarter mile away but they are my closest neighbor.   My neighbors and I were polite, talked once in a while and occasionally helped each other.   We were not very close.   After 15 years those neighbors moved to town.

So I walked by an empty house for several months.    Then for a few months renters with two Lexus' lived there.   I talked to them once.   They moved and it was empty for a few months and then someone bought the property...new neighbors.

I decided I would be a good neighbor.   I started with big waves and a smiles.   I stopped to chat.   Left some wine.    They don't neighbor.   I don't know their name and unless they decide to put it on the mail box I won't.   I do know they are not country folks by birth.   They own no four wheel drives and no trucks.   I own one of each.

It's alright.   I was never a very good neighbor.    Caring Kim is the worst.    She doesn't even wave or smile.   I guess she cares for most things except neighbors.
